The project’s approach of open call for proposals encouraged private sector to be engaged in offering innovative, affordable and reliable renewable energy technology solutions and developing sustainable livelihood opportunities for climate vulnerable smallholder farmers.

Innovative renewable energy technologies such as portable solar irrigation pumps water pumps to irrigate crops, solar poultry incubators, and biochar briquettes for heating chicks, provided new economic opportunities particularly for women in rural areas and enhanced access to credit for renewable energy investment and capacity building.

Knowledge products developed in collaboration with Royal University of Agriculture with targeted dissemination to Commune Extension Workers and all Provincial Departments of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries led to increased awareness and effectiveness of renewable energy technologies among government staff and small holder farmers.
